About ARM

The Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) was launched in 2010 as a grassroots collective by young Lebanese feminist activists in collaboration with migrant and domestic workers. Our mission is to achieve social, economic, and gender justice for migrant workers and racialized groups in Lebanon — with a focus on migrant domestic worker women living under the oppressive kafala system.

We believe in migrant workers as leaders and agents of change. Our work is migrant-led or migrant-centred across advocacy, community building, organizing, and legal casework. We are currently a team of 25 people committed to a feminist ethics of care — for our work and our workplace.

Areas of Contribution and Related Accountabilities

Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Leadership, Organizational Strategy and Representation

  • Provide visionary leadership, direction, and feminist-informed decision-making for the organisation, staff, and programs.

  • Lead on the development and implementation of ARM's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission, theory of change, and feminist principles.

  • Build and maintain strong, values-based partnerships with movements, networks, and allies nationally, regionally, and internationally.

  • Represent ARM in high-level spaces — including with government bodies, donors, media, civil society coalitions, and at international forums.

  • Act as the public voice of ARM, ensuring messaging aligns with organisational values and positions.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate organisational risks related to people, finances, reputation, and operations.

2. Board Relations and Governance

  • Serve as primary liaison between the Board and the organisation, ensuring timely and transparent communication.

  • Collaborate with the Board to deepen ARM's strategic vision and monitor its implementation.

  • Support Board governance development and training.

  • Lead succession planning, including developing a comprehensive senior management cover system and leadership pipeline (e.g. cover for all essential functions in the case of force majeure, operational, administrative, legal and decision-making processes in absence of ED and/or other senior management positions).

3. Resource Mobilization and Financial Sustainability

  • Develop and co-lead ARM's fundraising strategy, alongside the DoP, ensuring diverse, sustainable income streams through grants, partnerships, and innovative models.

  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with donors and funding partners.

  • Oversee annual and multi-year budgets, sustainability fund management, and all financial planning in line with strategic priorities.

  • Ensure financial compliance with ARM policies, Lebanese laws, and donor requirements.

  • Maintain transparent financial reporting to the Board and stakeholders.

4. Knowledge and Learning for Income Generation

  • Oversee program design, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring migrant leadership and feminist principles are embedded in all activities.

  • Ensure robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) systems are in place to measure impact and adapt strategies.

  • Lead ARM's organisational response to crises and emergencies, including public positioning, staff safety, and rapid programme adaptations.

  • Promote cross-team collaboration to ensure programme quality and relevance.

5. Advocacy, Communications and Campaigning

  • Shape and oversee ARM's advocacy agenda and policy priorities.

  • Guide campaign strategy with migrant worker leaders and allies, balancing long-term planning with rapid response.

  • Ensure research, reports, and educational materials amplify marginalized voices.

  • Oversee ARM's communication strategy — from content development to dissemination across media and digital platforms.

  • Serve as a key spokesperson, ensuring ARM's voice is values-driven and impactful.

6. People, Culture and Organisational Development

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and anti-racist organisational culture grounded in feminist ethics of care.

  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, professional development, and well-being initiatives.

  • Implement HR policies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and shared leadership.

  • Develop annual staff training plans informed by performance reviews and organisational needs.

  • Ensure conflict resolution processes are fair, transparent, and (when feasible) transformative.

7. Movement Memory and Formalizing

  • Build meaningful systems towards safeguarding ARM's history, political vision, and accumulated knowledge as collective movement memory.

  • Strengthen organizational structures and policies to support continuity, resilience, and accountability.

  • Ensure ARM's grassroots origins remain central as the organization evolves.

Essential Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to ARM's mission, vision, and feminist leadership values.

  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role and 15+ years of management experience in social change, human rights advocacy, or feminist organizing.

  • Proven experience in strategic planning, financial oversight, fundraising, and donor relations.

  • Strong knowledge of labour migration, anti-racism, feminist movement-building, and migrant rights.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead during crises, organisational change, and growth phases.

  • Experience working with diverse and international boards.

  • Exceptional communication skills in English and Arabic; French is an asset.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally regularly for ARM representation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Security management in complex environments.

  • In-depth understanding of donor landscapes in the WA region.

  • Experience in organisational governance and development consulting.

  • Lived experience as a migrant, racialised, or otherwise marginalised person.
