Robban Assafina, the unique maritime MENA publication, website, and smart phones' application, is a regional intensive maritime media services developed side by side with training courses/workshops in several countries in the Middle East and North Africa Region, with a specialized crew of maritime experts, masters & engineers, who focus directly on shipping, shipbuilding, ships, ports, offshore, and everything related to the world of marine navigation, communication and machineries.
Job DescriptionAs a Bilingual Editor, you will combine your exceptional language skills, cultural understanding, and editorial expertise to ensure the accuracy, fluency, and quality of content across multiple languages. Your role will encompass editing and refining content in both English & Arabic to meet high editorial standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication abilities, and a deep appreciation for linguistic nuances.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit translated content to ensure it maintains the intended meaning, style, and tone. Correct grammatical errors, punctuation, syntax, and formatting.
- Localization: Adapt content to suit the cultural and linguistic nuances of the target audience, ensuring that idioms, expressions, and cultural references are accurately conveyed.
- Language Proficiency: Demonstrate fluency and proficiency in both source and target languages, with a deep understanding of grammar, vocabulary, and language structure.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Bridge cultural gaps and sensitively handle content that may require modification to suit the cultural context and preferences of the target audience.
- Quality Control: Ensure the final translated and edited content meets high-quality standards and aligns with the organization's guidelines and branding.
- Collaboration: Work closely with writers, content creators, designers, and other team members to deliver seamless and impactful multilingual content.
- Research: Conduct research to ensure accurate effective communication of specialized terminology and industry-specific jargon.
- Deadlines and Prioritization: Manage multiple translation and editing projects, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on language trends, cultural developments, and industry-specific terminology to maintain relevance and effectiveness in your role.
- Bachelor's degree in, Linguistics, Languages, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in editing in both English & Arabic, preferably in a professional or organizational setting.
- Fluency in at least two languages (source and target) with exceptional proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both translation and editing.
- Familiarity with translation tools and software (CAT tools).
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of linguistic and cultural nuances.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Passion for languages, cross-cultural communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality content.
