Job Description

The Procurement and Logistics Officer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services. Additionally, he/she will oversee the efficient coordination of transportation and distribution activities, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors to promote good procurement practices with regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards, and costing.
  • Collaborate with program teams to understand project-specific procurement needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers who align with Borderless' values.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure ethical and cost-effective agreements.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with donor regulations and ethical standards.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics activities, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, and logistics activities for donor reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ethical and socially responsible suppliers.
  • Conduct regular assessments for suppliers to ensure alignment with Borderless' values.
  • Address any concerns related to suppliers promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with donor requirements and ethical standards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, sustainable practices, and changes in regulations affecting the NGO sector.

Competencies and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement and logistics roles within the NGO or international development sector.
  • Strong understanding of ethical sourcing and sustainable procurement practices.
  • Familiarity with donor regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
