Shipping/Warehouse Manager

Position Summary: The Warehouse Supervisor will ensure that all warehouse activities are carried out efficiently and profitably.
 
Essential Functions:

• Oversees the daily workflow of the warehouse; schedules and organizes staff to ensure proper

staffing of all shifts.

• Assists in hiring and training new warehouse employees.

• Ensures efficient warehouse operations through collaboration and coordination with other

departments.

• Completes all required management reports.

• Executes maintenance activities when needed.

• Researches, identifies, and presents new ideas to improve warehouse operations.

• Attends and participates in regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings.

• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.

• Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and

conditions of shipments.

• Inspect incoming materials and notify appropriate staff of potential quality issues.

• Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with specifications.

• Direct movement of shipments to appropriate work areas.

• Ensure the warehouse area is always organized and clean and meets all compliance factors.

• Manage the forklift storage and charging area as well as the daily charging requirements to

maintain a suitable amount of usable equipment for daily needs.

• Inspect shipments for damage or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies

supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.

• Operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift and other machines as necessary.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate-controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration and equipment noise leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents and heights. There is a moderate to high demand for tight deadlines. This position will experience moderate interruption in workflow, starting and stopping for product changeovers.
 
Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. While performing the duties of this job:

• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) working at a computer terminal.

• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, listening, teaching, and repetitive motion,

hand/wrist movement.

• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking.

• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting,

and grasping.

• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) work in a stooped position.

• Good eyesight, normal hearing.

• Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 50 lbs.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Typically works standard business days and hours. Flexible to attend meetings or important functions that may occur during off hours, weekends to meet organizational initiatives.
 
Travel: Should not be required.
 
Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.

• At least five years of related experience required; supervisory experience strongly preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.

• Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures.

• Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.
 
Licenses and Certifications: Forklift, reach, etc. Preferred.
 
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
