Position Objective:
- Design and develop detailed DWDM and optical transport network solutions.
- Responsible for creating scalable, high-capacity optical transport designs covering ROADM, OTN, long-haul backbone transport, and terrestrial-to-submarine integration.
- Ensure all optical transport designs comply with performance, resiliency, and capacity requirements while aligning with the overall network architecture strategy and future 200G/400G/800 evolution roadmap.

Responsibilities:

- Design DWDM optical transport solutions, including CDC-F , ROADM-based flexible grid, long-haul, and metro transport architectures.
- Develop OTN hierarchy design, optical channel mapping, and ODU cross-connect architectures.
- Experience with submarine cable integration and terrestrial-to-subsea backhaul design.
- Define wavelength allocation plans, spectrum management, and optical resiliency strategies.
- Develop detailed HLD and LLD for all DWDM and optical transport domains.
- Ensure alignment between core DWDM transport and access/metro optical layers.
- Perform OSNR, power budget, and chromatic dispersion calculations for all optical links and spans.
- Design optical protection switching mechanisms including WDM, OADM, and ROADM-based optical restoration.
- Evaluate optical amplifier (EDFA/Raman) placement and span engineering for long-haul routes.
- Perform optical link performance analysis and validate optical margin compliance.
- Design optical channel management, monitoring, and performance telemetry architectures.
- Design terrestrial DWDM backhaul integration architecture for submarine cable landing stations.
- Define interface and connectivity architecture between submarine line terminal equipment (SLTE) and terrestrial DWDM systems.
- Ensure protection and redundancy design for submarine-terrestrial interconnection points.
- Coordinate optical design alignment with submarine cable partners and international carriers.
- Design migration architecture and phased transition strategies for 100G/400G/800G transport evolution.
- Define coherent modulation formats, baud rates, and FEC selection for next-generation wavelength design.
- Assess the upgrade feasibility of existing optical infrastructure for high-capacity evolution.
- Develop capacity planning models and wavelength demand forecasting aligned with traffic growth.
- Develop comprehensive optical line system engineering documents, fibre allocation plans, and performance validation reports.
- Participate in technical design reviews and ensure compliance with optical engineering and telecom standards.
- Validate vendor DWDM design submissions, optical simulation reports, and compliance matrices.
- Support implementation teams during optical installation, testing, and commissioning phases. Qualifications &

Experience:

- Bachelor's or Master of Engineering in Optical Engineering, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in DWDM/OTN optical transport network design.
- Strong knowledge of ROADM, OTN, coherent optical transmission, and optical protection mechanisms.
- Experience with submarine cable integration and terrestrial-to-subsea backhaul design.
- Multi-vendor experience with leading DWDM vendors (Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, Huawei, Cisco).
- Proficiency in optical simulation tools (e.g., OptiSystem, OTS, or vendor-specific tools).
- Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Fluent in Arabic writing, reading and speaking is a must.
