Job Summary:
The specialist - Infrastructure support is responsible for delivering timely and effective technical assistance to end-users while ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the organisation's IT systems. This role supports the IT Department by troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing IT assets, performing routine system administration tasks, and maintaining proper documentation in alignment with organisational policies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues and provide prompt end-user support.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems to ensure minimal downtime.
- Assist users with system access, application usage, and adherence to IT best practices.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
- Deploy and update operating systems and business applications while performing routine maintenance and patching.
- Support basic server administration tasks (Windows/Linux), including user account and permission management in Active Directory or equivalent systems.
- Monitor system performance and resource utilization to ensure operational efficiency.
- Monitor network connectivity and escalate issues as required.
- Implement and enforce security measures such as antivirus, endpoint protection, and access control policies.
- Assist in firewall and VPN configuration under supervision.
- Ensure regular data backups and verify restore procedures.
- Maintain documentation for backup schedules, disaster recovery processes, IT assets, configurations, and incident logs.
- Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions to support the IT knowledge base.
- Test new hardware and software solutions for compatibility and provide feedback on system improvements.
- Conduct basic IT training sessions to enhance employee awareness of tools, systems, and security best practices.
- Perform additional related duties to support the overall goals and objectives of the IT Department.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum two to three years of experience in IT support or a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and basic networking principles.
- Familiarity with system administration (Windows/Linux), Active Directory, and endpoint security tools.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow IT security guidelines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
