Company Description

Codi is a combination between a coding bootcamp and a leadership programme based in Beirut whose aim is to get underprivileged youth to participate in the growing needs of the local ICT sector. It is school of web / mobile programming (free for students) and a broader school of life in many ways, for young individuals who have a passion for digital and want to build a career in technology but lack the financial means to pursue a traditional university education. It is the first training centre to foster digital and technical skills for all youth in Lebanon. 

Our core training is a 6-month Full-Stack Web Development programme, we train around 30 students every 6-months and have close to 80 alumni as of July 2020. We have also recently launched a 2-month Computer Literacy programme, everything we do at Codi is based around maximising the employability of our students and encouraging more people to join the tech/digital sector.

Job Description

We are looking for a new Senior Technical trainer to mentor, inspire and train future web developers (in the Core programme) while accompanying them day-to-day through their learning journey at Codi (you will report to the Lead Trainer). We are looking for someone who lives for programming and all things technical, previous experience teaching web development is essential and a love of sharing knowledge and educating the next generation of developers is key.

Key Activities include: 

  • Preparing and delivering daily exercises and teachings for the full 6-month programme 

  • Being present, monitoring and helping the students on a daily basis 

  • Preparing and delivering external workshops delivered by Codi to different audiences including kids

  • Participating in the recruitment of future cohorts (both in the Core and Computer Literacy Courses). 

  • Supporting the community building efforts through events and meetups with current students, tech community leaders and Codi alumni.

Qualifications

Technical skills

  • Passionate about programming and web development

  • Wide knowledge in JavaScript / CSS / HTML / SQL  

  • Good knowledge of server-side design patterns and continuous delivery principles 

  • Ability to learn new front-end frameworks such as React 

  • Strong UX / UI practices (user interface paradigms, user interviews, A/B testing)

Desired Skill

  • Fervent desire and passion for teaching

  • Willing to engage and learn new, dynamic and creative teaching methods

  • Curious and eager to learn and share knowledge with the students

  • Previous experience dealing with projects/clients (production or project management) 

  • Strong focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

  • Experience in project management (technical teams) 

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (French is a plus) 

  • Enthusiastic, well-organized, efficient, flexible, keen to learn new skills

  • Able to participate within a multidisciplinary team and act autonomously as relevant 

  • Business development experience (preferred)

Additional Information

  • Full-time employment (5 days/week) starting ASAP
