A Category Manager Team Lead is a person who is responsible in building and maintaining strong, long-lasting supplier relationships based on trust and respect. The Category Manager Team Lead has to clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to upper management.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Category Managers to achieve category sales, margin, and growth targets.
- Oversee the performance of multiple categories and ensure alignment with overall company strategy.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting supplier relationships based on trust and mutual growth.
- Support the team in negotiating contracts and closing agreements to maximize profit and visibility.
- Analyze category data and insights to identify trends, opportunities, and improvement areas.
- Approve new listings, pricing, and promotional plans across categories.
- Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
- Identify process gaps and propose solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Act as the main point of contact between the commercial team and senior management for category updates and strategy alignment.
- Proven work experience as a Category Manager Team Lead, Senior Category Manager, or similar leadership role.
- FMCG retail experience is a must; e-commerce retail experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial and supply chain operations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; proficiency in Tableau is a plus.
- BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a relevant field.
