About The Role
Operations at Shopify designs and operates the systems, architecture, and conditions that drive alignment, speed, and execution across the company. We don't run process for process's sake. We build the operating system that lets product, revenue, and talent move at the pace Shopify needs. We're bringing that operating discipline to Revenue Marketing. Marketing spans multiple teams and reporting lines, and it moves fastest when someone owns the connective tissue — one execution rhythm, one set of priorities, one bar. We're hiring a Senior Lead, Strategy & Operations to be that person: a generalist operator with real marketing instincts who unifies how the work gets planned, sequenced, and shipped, and who takes operational overhead off leaders so the teams can move. This is an individual contributor role. You won't manage people. You'll set the bar and lead through influence.

What You'll Do
Unify execution across Revenue Marketing. Build the operating rhythm — planning, prioritization, dependency tracking, performance tracking, decision velocity — that lets teams under different leaders execute against a single vision. Own the operating system for getting campaigns out the door. Navigate the dependencies that make or break a launch — growth, design, brand — and know who to pull in and how to make it happen. Subtract things that make us slow. Kill processes, automate workflows, rewire bad incentives, spot tooling opportunities. Reduce the operational overhead of running Revenue Marketing. Less is more. See the whole board. Understand where the marketing teams are spending, what they're accomplishing, and whether they're operating cohesively — and, over time, help run company-wide marketing rituals that raise outcomes across the org. Get smart about what's working. Bring analytical rigor to measuring marketing outcomes, including the hard ones — event impact, incrementality, attribution — and be honest about where the signal ends. Use AI as a force multiplier. Not as a productivity layer — as the way the work gets done. Design workflows that eliminate manual work at scale. Parachute into ambiguity and ramp in days. Take ownership. Escalation ends with you. What This Isn't Not a program manager role. We aren't hiring someone to run tickets or chase RAID logs. Not a chief-of-staff role. You aren't an extension of one leader — you're deployed against the org's problems. Not a brand or creative vision role. You make marketing execution excellent; you're not here to redefine the brand. Not a P&L role. Your leverage is influence, alignment, and execution — not owning the number. What We're Looking For An operator, not an advisor. You've carried outcomes across cross-functional teams, pulled people together, and made things happen. You've been in the weeds and the most senior person in the room at the same time. Operational excellence first, analytical strength close behind. You think in systems and from first principles, you're rigorous with data, and you default to execution. Leadership gravitas without the title. You can walk into a team that's mid-change and organize the chaos. People follow because of how you show up, not your box on the org chart. Genuine marketing domain expertise. You've operated close to marketing and understand how the pieces fit — design, brand, and measurement — well enough to make the right calls fast. Comfort in ambiguity and matrixed environments. You navigate dependencies across teams that don't report to you — and still ship. High throughput and succinct communication. You move a lot of work, and you can show up in any room and communicate clearly and persuasively. Extreme accountability, low ego. Self-reliant. Resourceful. Solve it yourself first. Do what you said, when you said it. Bonus Time in the office of a CMO, a marketing operations seat, or an equivalent operator role close to a marketing leadership team. Experience in a heavily matrixed organization or a strong growth marketing environment. Track record of being "parachuted in" successfully — turnarounds, integration leads, or standing up ops for a new bet. About Shopify Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries. This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option. About You Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone. Before you apply, consider if you can: Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter) Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change Bring critical thought and opinion Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward Work digital-first for your daily work We may use AI-enabled tools to screen, select, and assess applications. All AI outputs are reviewed and validated by our recruitment team.
