JOB SUMMARY
Perform all assigned laboratory routine, and moderately complex procedures,
while applying accreditation requirements, safety regulations and equipment
maintenance. Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut
Medical Center and that of the Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / TASK GROUPS
* Greet, receive, and create a positive experience for every patient/family by demonstrating a professional, caring, empathetic and friendly approach following the service excellence standards and guidelines.
* Follow the established guidelines and protocols: for performing routine to moderately complex pathology and laboratory procedures for results analysis, interpretation, and reporting as per the specific policy and procedure.
* Receive, handle, and prepare specimen following section specific policies and procedures.
* Identify failures in test systems (pre-analytical, analytical, and post analytical), report issues to concerned individuals and apply troubleshooting steps.
* Follow the established guidelines and protocol for reporting of critical values.
* Perform quality control procedures as the job requires, report quality control failures to designated personnel, and apply suggested corrective action.
* Attend the yearly required CME credits.
* Perform timely maintenance and report failures to support personnel for corrective action.
* Perform periodic reagent and supplies inventory for the assigned station to ensure availability of the needed reagents and supplies for operation as well as check and alert for expired or nearly expired reagents and verify reagents for acceptability.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor. COMPETENCIES Client Focus, Achievement Orientation, Professional Development, Professionalism, Team Skills. KNOWLEDGE / KNOW-HOW Knowledge: Basic knowledge of medical terminology in Pathology and Lab procedures Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.

0-2 years of experience as Medical Laboratory Technologist. Languages: Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET score >/= 500). Preferred Languages: French is an asset. Computer

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to interact with laboratory information system and/or hospital information system (HIS) computer.
