Position Description:

The Department of Computer Science at the American University of Beirut invites applications

for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August, 2026. Candidates are expected to

contribute to the department s teaching, research, and service missions.

Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for

excellence in research and a commitment to high-quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate

will be expected to:

  • Teach core and elective courses in Computer Science.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student

    research.
  • Develop and sustain a strong research program with external funding.
  • Contribute to departmental, university, and

    professional service.

Areas of Specialization:

We seek candidates whose expertise complements and

strengthens the department s curriculum and research profile. Priority areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Artificial

    Intelligence and Data Science
  • Software Engineering
  • Cybersecurity and Privacy
  • High Performance Computing
  • Computer Graphics and Gaming
  • Theoretical Computer Science
  • Outstanding candidates in other areas of Computer Science

    will also be considered.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field

    (at the time of appointment).
  • Evidence of excellence in research and publication.
  • Evidence of or potential for teaching

    excellence.
  • Ability to contribute to departmental priorities in both undergraduate and graduate education.
