About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Staff Engineer to design, scale, and optimize backend systems that power high-impact products and services. As a senior technical leader, you will set the bar for engineering excellence, drive architectural decisions, and guide teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable platforms.

This role blends hands-on technical depth with strategic influence: you'll build critical systems, mentor engineers, and help shape long-term technical direction across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical direction, architectural guidance, and mentorship to backend engineers.
• Establish and champion coding standards, design principles, and best practices.
• Lead technical design and code reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate across functions (Frontend, Mobile, Data, Infrastructure, Product, and Design) to align on system design and architecture, ensuring cohesive end-to-end solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and evolve the company's technical vision.

Systems & Product Development

• Architect and implement backend services and APIs with a focus on scale, performance, and fault tolerance.
• Leverage microservices, event-driven systems, and modern architectural patterns.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and optimize system performance.
• Continuously improve engineering processes, automation, and development workflows.

Project & Delivery Management

• Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to define technical requirements, scope, and milestones.
• Decompose complex initiatives into actionable plans and ensure timely execution.
• Proactively manage risks and make trade-offs to deliver impact at scale.

Innovation & Strategy

• Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.
• Propose innovative solutions to enhance platform capabilities and user experience.
• Contribute to long-term technical strategy and influence cross-team initiatives.

Team Building & Collaboration

• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and developing top engineering talent.
• Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.
• Provide and solicit feedback across peers and teams to raise the bar for engineering excellence.

Key Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading large-scale technical projects.
• Programming: Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages (e.g., PHP, Java, Python, , Go, .NET).
• Architecture & Systems: Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Data & Storage: Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), caching systems (Redis), and queuing technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices (logging, metrics, monitoring, alerting).
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to influence across engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Preferred: Experience scaling high-traffic consumer products or complex enterprise systems.
