Purpose of the Internship

The Horizons International Internship Program is designed for:

1. Christians, regardless of background, who have a desire to learn more about sharing the gospel with international students, refugees, and immigrants in the U.S. from around the world
2. Christians, regardless of background, who have a desire to use their gifts and to learn in the context of a local church outside of the U.S. (e.g. MENA, Balkans, Asia, etc)  to reach the lost locally in word and deed, to make disciples, and to learn more how to bear fruit for Jesus Christ outside of the U.S.
3.  Christians from a Muslim background that are spiritually mature, have leadership potential, and are looking to develop their gifts so that they may serve in Christ's church, wherever God may take them.
4. Christians from a Muslim background who will benefit from a period of discipling. 

The Application & Arrival Process (Overview)

The Application Process to be an intern with Horizons will take between 1-3 months. First, is the Application and Approval Process which will take about a month. The second requirement is for those going overseas which involves Pre-Arrival Orientation and Training, which will take 1 to 2 months. This Orientation will be conducted online once or twice a week to cover Language Learning, Cultural Understanding, and Practical Living in a foreign country.

3. Interview with Horizons Staff (in person, by phone or virtual,)

If Accepted: Pre-Arrival Orientation & Training (Timeline: 1-2 Months)

1. Sign Internship Covenant
2. Determine the intern's housing & budget
3. Begin support raising (connect with Stewardship Ambassadors)
4. Pre-Arrival Training Sessions
5. Arrive at internship site

Internship Program Overview

The internship is structured to teach qualified and interested individuals through biblical study and then practical ministry how to know, love, and follow our Lord Jesus with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength especially with the aim of reaching the lost and least reached, seeing them discipled in the context of a local church so that they can bear fruit for Jesus Christ, and helping all Christians learn how to be faithful ambassadors of our Lord Jesus.  Those involved will grow both in their biblical knowledge but also through various types of experiences and exposure - evangelism, discipleship, working with and mobilizing local volunteers through church collaboration, hospitality, and many other ways ministry is occurring to reach these people.

Interns who desire to follow Jesus Christ as a servant leader, and who desire to do ministry like Jesus, using the Bible, being with sinners, sacrificing for the sake of the lost, and who are compelled by the love of Christ will be impacted by this internship and have many opportunities to reach the lost of the nations who are at our doorstep in the US as well as in the locations around the globe where we have staff (e.g. MENA, Asia, Balkans, and more).

As the intern approaches the end of the internship they will be in discussion with Horizons International Staff about next-steps, whether that be intentional global ministry in the US as a faithful Christian working a job and serving through their local church, or possibly as a support-based staffer in the US or abroad.

Expectations

By filling out this Intern Application, a candidate agrees to uphold the highest standard of personal & moral conduct while serving as an intern, if selected.

Interns will be required to raise personal financial support, the amount of which will be determined on an individual basis.
