About The Role

The DevOps Engineer Backend ensures the stability, scalability, and automation of OLX Lebanon's digital infrastructure. This role bridges software development and operations, enabling continuous integration and continuous delivery of products with efficiency and reliability.You will collaborate closely with development teams from initial design through deployment, leveraging your experience in Terraform, AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. Additionally, you will either bring experience with Laravel or demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn it quickly to better support our PHP-based backend systems.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Laravel-based backend systems for our internal and external products.
• Implement and manage queues, caching, Redis, and S3 storage to ensure scalability and performance.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend business logic.
• Develop or enhance internal tools (admin panels, dashboards, etc.) using Laravel Blade or light frontend frameworks.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code.
• Collaborate with team members using Agile methodologies and tools like Jira for sprint planning and issue tracking.
• Contribute to discussions on architecture, performance, and best practices.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent field and significant experience in Laravel Developer (PHP).
• AWS Solutions Architect certification.
• 2–3 years of professional experience as a Laravel Developer (PHP).
• Experience working in Agile environments and using Jira or similar tools.
• Previous exposure to code review processes is a strong plus.
• Ability to work independently on long-term projects within a collaborative team.
• Strong understanding of Laravel queues, Redis, caching, and S3 storage.
• Proficiency in MySQL and familiarity with PostgreSQL (a plus).
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, authentication, and middleware.
• Basic understanding of frontend development (Blade templates, JavaScript, or React for internal tools).
• Experience with Git (branching, merging, and pull requests).
• Strong debugging, optimization, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with or for building internal tools or integrations.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch for search and data indexing.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized development environments.
• Experience with AWS services beyond S3 (e.g., EC2, CloudWatch, Lambda).
