Custodian/Floor Specialist

Otterbein has an employment opportunity for a Custodian/Floor Care Specialist.  Come show off your skills where you can work with your heart and make a difference The Floor Care /Specialist provides a clean, safe environment for residents, guests and employees.  Under the direction and supervision of the housekeeping supervisor/manager, completes scheduled/assigned project tasks such as floor stripping/refinishing, carpet extraction, wall washing, etc.  Performs general custodial duties. 

Shift: 2nd shift 3p-11p Sunday through Thursday

• Able to work independently and display good sound judgement when making independent decisions
• Keeps work area clean and free of hazardous conditions, ensures equipment, tools and supplies are properly stored before leaving areas
• Demonstrates technical knowledge of products (project specific chemicals) and proper use and mixing
• Demonstrates proper operation of equipment – Auto Scrubber and Burnisher
• Performs general cleaning procedures of rooms, stairwells, windows, elevators, etc.
• Demonstrates technical knowledge and operation of Spill/Spot cleaning, Carpet Extractors and upright/walk behind vacuums
• Maintains stock room, breaks down boxes and assists with moves
• Proper cleaning and storage of mops, buckets, wringers, etc.
• Trash removal
• Make rounds of interior building to ensure office security at mid and end of shift or as required

• Education:  High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience:  One year experience in floor care preferred; must possess good communication skills and a strong desire to care for the ill, disabled and elderly residents as well as work with families, staff and support agencies to provide a great environment to live and work
