Overview

Otterbein is seeking a Traveling Sous Chef This is an exciting position with the responsibilities of working with our communities Executive Directors and Executive Chefs. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items.   Otterbein is Senior Living Organization with 9 CCRC communities in Ohio/Indiana with full-service kitchens and dining rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer service is a must
  • Helps oversees the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors all food production and presentation.
  • Trains and assists staff in proper procedures and policies.
  • Recipe development.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Ordering and inventory.
  • Requires an understanding of federal, state and local food and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Understand the use and maintenance of various kitchen equipment.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.  Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.

Education:  A degree in Culinary Science or related certificate would be a plus.

Licensure: ServSafe certification.

Experience: 2 to 5 year's cooking experience in LTC or similar setting preferred
