Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Produce Manager oversee the daily operations of the Produce department, ensuring sound operation, growth, profitability and a high level of customer service in line with the stated goals and policies of the cooperative. Will be responsible for ensuring customer service quality standards are met.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Direct the daily operations of the Produce department, including scheduling, staffing, and customer service
- Promote Produce sales, consult with customers and assist in the department operations
- Prioritize effectively and balance competing demands
- Responsible for dept. inventory, pricing, special promotions, following guidelines and policies established by assigned merchandiser to assess new Produces, maintain margins and interaction with other designated staff
- Responsible for dept. inventory, pricing, special promotions
- Stock and rotate products, order product on a regular basis, working with employees, sales representatives and vendors
- Train, coach, supervise and motivate department staff
- Resolve staff issues
- Elevate employee relations issues to the Produce Manager when necessary
- Set goals and standards, monitor compliance, and carry out all appropriate personnel actions in a timely manner
Required Skills/Experience and Attributes:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of supervisory experience preferred
- One plus years and knowledge of local growers and product
- Ability to represent the Co-op in a positive manner
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in ECRS POS system and processes
- Set an excellent example for new employees
- Proficiency in use of computer software, Office 365, Excel and Word
- Successful completion of Co-op customer service training
- Serve Safe certification acquired as needed
- Excellent follow through
Attendance Requirements:
Flexible hours, including weekend and evening shifts. Availability to be scheduled to work any day of the week, according to department needs.
