Purpose of Job:
Perform instructional activities under the direct guidance of the teacher.
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.
General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Required to work under direct guidance of the classroom teacher unless otherwise assigned to another supervisorIn settings involving students with disabilities, assistants shall assist students with toileting, feeding, and other self-help activities as requiredAssist individual students and small groups in developing academic and nonacademic skills Perform such clerical duties as preparing instructional materials, checking papers, and collecting student data (clerical duties are not, however, limited to this list)Maintain student records as directed by the classroom teacherSupport the administration of all diagnostic tools as directed by the teacherAssist in preparing the classroom and organizing all instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacherMonitor the classroom when the teacher must attend required meetings, provide consultation, behavior supports, etc.Support the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)Attend all in-service and faculty meetings when directed to do so by immediate supervisors or the Director of Schools Must not discuss confidential school business, or student records in or out of school or with peersAssist in the supervision of students on bus trips as directed by the building-level administratorLunchroom, recess/playground, before or after school dutyEnsure that the use of the district's resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possibleOther Duties and Responsibilities

High school diploma. Bachelor's Degree preferred."Highly Qualified" (i.e. successful completion of Praxis test or 48 hours of college credit, Associates or Bachelor's Degree)Sufficient experience so that with appropriate training, services may be provided in the specific role for which employed
Abilities/Physical Requirements
Physical demand requirements may include lifting of students, positioning of students, assisting students with personal hygiene activities such as toileting, feeding and assisting with daily living activities.
