The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist III independently performs a variety of diagnostic tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. 

This is a 40-hour per week, benefitted, day-shift position.  This position is required to work rotating weekends and holidays. 

We are offering a $7500 sign-on/retention bonus for this position.  *The bonus is available for external hires only and certain conditions apply.

1. Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform a variety of laboratory tests in a timely manner yielding accurate and precise results with a low error rate.
2. Ability to appropriately troubleshoot and resolve problems. Ensures that patient results are not reported until systems are functioning correctly. Clearly communicates resolutions or next steps.
3. Possesses solid knowledge, skills and theory to perform job duties in the clinical laboratory.
4. Performs and evaluates quality control and instrument function checks using established quality control practices to assess the functioning of the test system(s). Identifies when a QC problem exists and can troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
5. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment according to established laboratory procedures and/or manufacturers recommendations, including keeping supplies. Identifies when sample, instrument, and/or procedural problems exists and takes appropriate actions to remedy the issue.
6. Can troubleshoot problems and communicate resolutions or next steps appropriately.
7. Orients and trains new laboratory staff. Trains bench personnel when new procedures or systems are put into routine use. Trains MLS or MLT/CLT students in bench procedures, basic theory, and advanced skills. Helps develop teaching and training tools.
8. Actively participates in the D-HH member's laboratory's continuing education program.
9. Assist in outpatient/in-patient phlebotomies, specimen processing, non-patient registration, and requisition checks, as needed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to determine phlebotomy technique appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
10. Demonstrates knowledge of and acts in accordance with all hospital safety requirements
11. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

• AS degree and minimum of 4 years of Clinical Laboratory experience or Bachelor's of Science Degree and minimum of 2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience required.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines and manage changing volumes. Basic knowledge of computer software systems.

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT-AMT) or Technologist/Specialist in Chemistry (C-ASCP) or International Technologist in Microbiology (M-ASCP) or Technologist/Specialist in Blood Banking (BB-ASCP) or Specialist in Hematology (SH-ASCP) or International Specialist in Microbiology (SM-ASCP) within 365 days
