Key Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities

Implement the WASH Services Field Activities:

  • Lead the community mobilization team (CMs) and act as the focal point of all related site (ISs) activities related to WASH services.
  • With the support of Project Officer, complete the implementation of site activities, which are water provision, desludging services, hygiene promotion activities and distribution of WASH NFI items (i.e. Hygiene kits, water tanks) as per set criteria in order to ensure quality of World Visions WASH programs intervention.
  • Under the supervision and guidance of the Project Officer, set the weekly/monthly plans of all community mobilization and site activities for the assigned WASH Services ensuring regularly updating CMs plans, per site, per CM.
  • Deliver the most appropriate hygiene messages to target population based on the results of the applicable assessment tool (HCMT) and on field observation.
  • As per the direction of the Project Officer, deliver Hygiene Promotion initiatives appropriate to the context ensuring that the technical and social aspects of water and sanitation programming are integrated, monitor, and evaluate the drafting of necessary materials needed for an HP campaign/activity.
  • Observe the hygienic situation of the informal settlements and raise issues to the Project Officer.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Officer, conduct needs assessments, and WASH technical assessments.
  • Ensure that the work implemented by suppliers and contractors is well supervised and report any issue to the Project Officer.
  • Collect Means of Verification (MoVs), carefully validate them and submit for review and archiving.
  • Observe CMs work time and collect attendance sheets, carefully validate them and submit for review, archiving and payment issuing.
  • Regularly identify and assess public health hygiene and protection risks and needs of sites and report results to Project Officer.
  • Ensure taking time stamped photographs and documentation collection of the implemented activities.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationship with with sites leaders and representatives in order to ensure adequate attention and ownership of tasks related to the WASH services in the Informal Settlement (IS) and other refugees habitations.
  • Under the direction and guidance of the Project Officer, ensure implementing projects as per the WVL WASH SOPs including using standardized forms for site inspection.
  • Keep regular referrals tracking and response including close and timely follow up at the field level, and report cases situation to Project Officer.
  • Provide daily and weekly reports to the Project Officer on conducted activities to ensure that needs assessed be effectively responded to.
  • Share lessons learned with the Project Officer and local community members.
  • Complete Data Entry tasks related to the WASH services
  • Respond to any emergency, at any time, as directed by the project officer.

Field level management:

  • Build constructive relationships with the target community.
  • Collect the data from the community Mobilizers and prepare reports accordingly.
  • Mobilize communities to increase ownership and maintenance of WASH facilities installed.
  • Monitor CMs team through field spot checks visits.

Perform other duties as required

  • Attend Services related meetings.
  • Attend and participate in capacity building trainings.
  • Attend and participate in WVLs spiritual nurture and other organizational events.
  • Act responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.
  • Report Child Protection incidents as per the safeguarding policy guidelines.
  • Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

Knowledge/Qualifications for the role

  • 2 years of experience working in NGOs WASH sector.
  • Previous experience working in water, sanitation, health a/o waste management projects.
  • Previous experience working in refugee camps.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to manage data effectively.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural and difficult/sensitive contexts.
  • Has strong knowledge of core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, as well as SPHERE standards.
  • Bachelor Degree or Technical Diploma in a development-related field or any other related field of studies.
  • Driving License.
  • Working knowledge of providing WASH Services such as water trucking, desludging, dewatering, NFIs distribution, hygiene promotion and emergency response.
  • 80% office work 20% field work
  • Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
  • Field visits are an essential part of the job.
  • Good written and oral communication skills (English and Arabic).
